Jun 17, 0 0. Asus p3bf with Beta 3 bios. Thank You. Any other suggestions? If I could get the program to run in XP, I wouldn't mind. The Program is Gigastudio v2. There are numerous problems in XP with this program. And since v2. Thanks for any help you can give me, Jenny. From Snakefoot The text below is for NT5, but a knowledgeable person can adjust her actions to get the same result I did, anyway.
It can solve most resource conflicts. If a conflict happens then it has be fixed in BIOS or changing addon cards. ACPI handles power management, so if having a laptop it will help on battery time Standard PC can do some pnp but still allow you to configure your devices. There is a higher chance of resource conflict, but you might be able to solve it in Windows Standard PC has no power management, and for some it gives better performance and less conflicts The ACPI makes it look like all the devices is sharing the same IRQ.
ACPI can be disabled in Win2k after it has been installed. Though some reports problems doing this. It is recommended to make a backup of your current "Hardware Profile" before applying this. Yet another way is to press F5 instead of F7.

In any case I would like to know where the bios flash is at? I went to Asus site and it is not in the bios upgrade section. Seems to me this problem should be posted to the shutdown group on the MS beta server, thats where things like this are addressed. Didja bug it up? Last I heard thats what was supposed to be done with bugs.. Or is this a "warez" release?
From what I've gleaned from various Win 98 news groups, this is a Windows problem, which they're working on. Try disabling "Fast Shutdown", this worked for me. Note: After using method 2 to enable ACPI support, some devices may still detect a conflicting counterpart even after you remove them. Before running either method, use ScanReg to make a backup of your registry.
Red screens indicate that the problem is probably related to a hardware or BIOS problem. Blue screens indicate that the problem is probably related to software or is an obscure problem.
